The Tempest

Open Call for a live performance of The Tempest by William Shakespeare. 

William Shakespeare’s tragicomedy begins with a magical storm and a shipwreck that tests the relations and fates of those who arrive on a deserted island. With kings and dukes, spirits and storms, navigate through comic misunderstandings, political plots, assassination attempts, love and magic, all to land with a happily every after.

    Sunday, April 3rd, 12 - 2pm

    Callbacks if needed will be held on Sunday, April 3rd, 2-4pm

    All auditions will be held at Valley Center Stage

    1060 Stilson Ave SE North Bend WA 98045 (aka the Sallal Grange building)

    You may present either a Monolog or select a cold reading from the play. In addition, you may be asked to cold read various parts.

    Please familiarize yourself with the play prior to auditioning, any version of William’s Shakespeare The Tempest will do.

    CHARACTERS:

    Prospero - deposed Duke, brother to Antonio. PRECAST

    OPEN ROLES:

    Miranda - daughter of Prospero. Female casting preferred

    Ferdinand - Prince, son of Alonso. Male casting preferred

    Ariel - An airy and impatient spirit bound in service to Prospero (comfortable singing preferred)

    Caliban - Savage offspring of the witch Sycorax, born on the island. Male casting preferred

    Alonso - King/Queen

    Sebastian - Sibling to Alonso, friend of Antonio. Plots to overthrow the king

    Antonio - Sibling to Prospero, usurped the Dukedom, friend of Sebastian

    Gonzalo - Honest counselor to Alonso

    Adrian - Lord to Alonso

    Francisco - Lord to Alonso

    Trinculo - Alonso’s jester

    Stephano - Alonso’s butler

    Iris - Prospero’s spirit, god/goddess of the rainbow

    Ceres - Prospero’s spirit, god/goddess of the harvest

    Juno - Prospero’s spirit, god/goddess of marriage

    Boatswain

    Mariners

    Ensemble will fill Hounds, Shapes, Reapers, Nymphs
